Jyotirmai Club is the culmination of the aspirations of a few socially aware housewives who desired to improve their social environment. They planned to achieve this by working along two avenues:

(a)	by dedicating themselves to working towards the upliftment of the underprivileged and,
(b)	by paying equal emphasis on the personality development of its members.

Fired by this zeal, Jyotirmai Club was formed in 1954 & formally registered under the Societies Act 1860 on 25th October, 1962, with a small but highly motivated group of members. The club has grown in strength since than, both in quality and in size. What is remarkable is that the enthusiasm of the 560 members has sustained its drive over the years, widening its horizon and increasing its zone of activity from years to year. A brief glimpse of the present activities of Jyotirmai Club will illustrate this adequately.
